Well, it's certainly been a long time since I updated this blog, though the project has continued to truck along. Since my last post, I've had a lot of life changes, among them? I've moved to Florida and been living down here for almost a year. Moving to Florida has given me a couple of new convention experiences like Tampa Bay Comic Con and last weekend's MegaCon, and I did make it back up north for NYCC last year (and hope to this year)! I've gotten to work with some wonderful new cosplayers on this project, and after working for so long, it's really almost finished. Like... if I do some location shoots? I could finish it this year. I'm not quite sure what happens after that-- if I'll go for 200, try a new project, or just keep taking photos without some overarching goal. ;)
Anyway, thanks got sticking with me! Check out the new photos! Follow me on Facebook! And most of all, be well. <3
Wow, it's certainly been a while, hasn't it? Nearly a year (and three conventions) have passed since I updated this page. I went to Dragon*Con 2013 last August, New York Comic Con 2013 last October, and just a week ago today I attended AnimeNEXT 2014. I'm not sure how this blog of updates got away form me. XD But here's what's new since... last year. XD
Lelouch vi Britannia from Code Geass
Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones
Ariel from The Little Mermaid
Newton "Newt" Geiszler from Pacific Rim
Gambit from X-Men: Evolution
Cyber Elf X from Megaman Zero
Nico Di Angelo from Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Reyna Avila Ramirez Arellano from Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Black Widow / Natasha Romanoff from The Avengers
Things will likely be quiet around here until Dragon*Con 2014, but I'd certainly like to get in a location shoot or two if I can between now and then. We'll see what comes up. Thanks so much for following my little project-- can you believe I only need 26 more characters? :)
Who has two thumbs and is super behind in updating this thing? THIS GIRL! Since my last update I've attended both AnimeNEXT and a private BioShock Infinite cosplay event at Sandy Hook in New Jersey. Next up on the agenda is Dragon*Con! Between the two events I've added a handful of new characters to Level 100, both using cosplayers I have worked with previously, and cosplayers new to the project. Thank you to everyone who has participated!
Iroha Umegiri from Beatmania IIDX
Utena Tenjou from Revolutionary Girl Utena
Marceline from Adventure Time
Rosetta from Disney's Fairies
Rosalinde / Robert Lutece from BioShock Infinite
Elizabeth Comstock from BioShock Infinite
This past weekend I attended C2E2 for the first time, and had a ball. I got to hang out with great friends, and make some wonderful new friends too. I also did lots of photo shoots and can now boast six new additions to Level 100! Thank you so much to Black Ocean Sky, Piece of Heart Cosplay's Sabel and Mog, Malindachan, and Jessica Jolt for being so much fun to shoot with. :) I hope to see you all again in the future.
Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Azula from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Yue from Avatar: The Last Airbender
Link from The Legend of Zelda
Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon
Pixie from X-Men
My next convention is my home con of AnimeNEXT.
This was originally posted on my deviantART.
What a year 2012 has been! My first full year out of school, but I took two courses in Photoshop, had my first internship, and I think life in general has been teaching me a lot-- both good and bad. I went to fewer conventions than I did in 2012, but that was always the plan. I pretty much stuck to my projected schedule from last year, apart from throwing in a day at MangaNEXT which was only about a half hour from my house. I'm sad there won't be a MangaNEXT this year, actually. While it was a very small convention, I got to see friends I don't often get to spend time with and I made some new and wonderful friends (HI DARLENE! HI ROSS!) plus it's super close so I could just go and hang out for a day.
I attended both MangaNEXT and Anime Boston as press, representing Jolt Photography. I'm still writing convention reports; I think it helps me from letting my writing skills fall to waste, which is nice, but I'm also now taking Hall Photography shots when Jess isn't available to attend conventions herself. We did not get press for AnimeNEXT or New York Comic Con this year, but I take pictures and write reports anyway. XD New York Comic Con did give us press last year so it was a bit of a letdown to be denied this year, but they seem to be shifting the entire convention into a more industry direction. That's ok, though, I'm just glad I bought a badge just in case. :)
One of the most exciting things to come from New York Comic Con was passing the halfway point on my You've Got Character: Level 100 project. Over the past year I got to work with a number of new cosplayers as well as old friends and I thank each and every one of you so much. In doing this project I am learning a whole lot about both taking pictures and editing them. With every picture I take I strive to improve, and you have all helped me. Thank you.
The cons on the table for next year are AnimeNEXT, New York Comic Con, and a return to Dragon*Con that I am already ridiculously excited about. It's all downhill on Level 100 from here; I can't believe I took the first picture in July of 2010! What am I gonna do when it's finished? Maybe strive to attain Level 200...? ;)
New York Comic Con was a huge success for Level 100, pushing the project up to 51 characters! Know what that means? I've passed the halfway point! I can't believe I took the first photo for this project in July of 2010. Thank you so much to all the friends and cosplayers who have helped me get this far.
Fionna from Adventure Time
Wasp from The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes
The Lieutenant from The Legend of Korra
Mysterion from South Park
Russell from Up
Mako from The Legend of Korra (reshoot)
Thank you again, to all of you, for inspiring me and helping me to grow as a photographer. This has been an incredible learning experience, and I hope I continue to improve as we roll downhill towards Level 100.
Summer is coming to a close but as the air grows cooler and the leaves begin to change New York Comic Con draws near! I already have several photoshoots planned and cannot wait for this convention!
Today I've been doing some revamping on this website as well as on the Misty Autumn Imagery facebook page which is only one "like" away from fifty! I've been debating posting hall photography somewhere, but keep ending up pushing the idea aside. Hm.
A few weeks ago my friend Han Pan and I set out early and had a little photoshoot! The resulting project addition has attracted more attention than any other photo I have posted on the facebook page ever.
Oerba Dia Vanille from Final Fantasy XIII
I guess that's all for now. See you at NYCC! :D
Another AnimeNEXT has come and gone, and with it, I have a whole bunch of new photos! I have to give major thanks to everyone who helped me out this past weekend by posing for photoshoots. Some friends returned, and some had their first shots taken for the project! So thank you to Ian Shelling, Michele Zu-Zul, DaiKatsu, Ambrosia, Stephanie Peberdy, and Starshadow Senshi. You are all wonderful! <3
Amon from The Legend of Korra
Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender (reshoot)
Mako from The Legend of Korra
Ryoko Hakubi from Tenchi Muyo!
Lisanna Strauss from Fairy Tail
Mistress 9 from Sailor Moon
I don't think I'll be attending another convention until New York Comic Con 2012, but hopefully I'll still be shooting in the meantime. :)
So Anime Boston 2012 was a huge success for this project! While most of the photo shoots I planned did not come together, impromptu ones did and by the end of the convention I had five new characters to add to my list! I got to work with some friends who have appeared before, as well as friends making their first appearances; I'd like to thank Bahar Isteben, Michele Zu-Zul, Aluminum Bunny, Shiroi Yukiko, and Eri for thir time and participation. My next con will be AnimeNEXT 2012. Can't wait to see what's in store!
Chihiro Ogino from Spirited Away
Yuri Petrov from Tiger & Bunny
Amaimon from Blue Exorcist
Mephisto Pheles from Blue Exorcist
Rin Okumura from Blue Exorcist
When last I posted 2011 was coming to an end and I was getting ready for the new year. Now it's 2012 and Anime Boston 2012 is around the corner! Since my last update, I went to Anime USA 2011 and made a surprise day trip to MangaNEXT 2012. I've added several new characters to the collection and worked with a couple of new cosplayers who I hope to work with again in the future. Thanks again for getting involved, Vicious Cosplay and rinchansflower!
I've gone back and re-edited some old photos too. It's exciting to see myself growing and to make old photos even better! Yay learning!
