What a year 2012 has been! My first full year out of school, but I took two courses in Photoshop, had my first internship, and I think life in general has been teaching me a lot-- both good and bad. I went to fewer conventions than I did in 2012, but that was always the plan. I pretty much stuck to my projected schedule from last year, apart from throwing in a day at MangaNEXT which was only about a half hour from my house. I'm sad there won't be a MangaNEXT this year, actually. While it was a very small convention, I got to see friends I don't often get to spend time with and I made some new and wonderful friends (HI DARLENE! HI ROSS!) plus it's super close so I could just go and hang out for a day.
I attended both MangaNEXT and Anime Boston as press, representing Jolt Photography. I'm still writing convention reports; I think it helps me from letting my writing skills fall to waste, which is nice, but I'm also now taking Hall Photography shots when Jess isn't available to attend conventions herself. We did not get press for AnimeNEXT or New York Comic Con this year, but I take pictures and write reports anyway. XD New York Comic Con did give us press last year so it was a bit of a letdown to be denied this year, but they seem to be shifting the entire convention into a more industry direction. That's ok, though, I'm just glad I bought a badge just in case. :)
One of the most exciting things to come from New York Comic Con was passing the halfway point on my You've Got Character: Level 100 project. Over the past year I got to work with a number of new cosplayers as well as old friends and I thank each and every one of you so much. In doing this project I am learning a whole lot about both taking pictures and editing them. With every picture I take I strive to improve, and you have all helped me. Thank you.
The cons on the table for next year are AnimeNEXT, New York Comic Con, and a return to Dragon*Con that I am already ridiculously excited about. It's all downhill on Level 100 from here; I can't believe I took the first picture in July of 2010! What am I gonna do when it's finished? Maybe strive to attain Level 200...? ;)
